Ready to back the next generation of aspiring rugby stars?
Everyone here at Horizon Platforms is cheering on our local under 9s team in Warrington – and we’ve put our money on them to win.
A few months ago – and with the new season about to kick off – the squad of 17 youngsters at Woolston Rovers reached out to surrounding businesses to fund their team shirts. They’d had a fantastic fundraising effort from proud parents, but were left short – a little like last year’s kit!
Horizon was raised locally so it’s always been important to us that we go above and beyond for our community. So, when the team got in touch, we wanted to do everything we could to help.
We managed to give them the lion’s share of their fund and they’re now fully kitted out with the Horizon colours on the front of their strip.
The youngsters are nearly as old as Horizon Platforms so it was a great opportunity to help them grow as we do. Training twice a week, Woolston Rovers supports the development of new skills, technique, game awareness and teamwork – the last is something we particularly value in the work we do every day.
Mark Dillon, Woolston Rovers U9s Coaching Co-Ordinator said: “Like Horizon, community underpins what we do as a club. So, growing our connections within the business community was a great way to provide local, regional and national companies a rewarding investment for their corporate social responsibilities. We found a great partner in Horizon.”
Here’s to a great season for Woolston Rovers – we’re rooting for you!

Along with businesses across the nation, the Horizon family donned their cosiest, wackiest, most spectacular festive knit for Christmas Jumper Day – raising worthy funds for Save the Children. The whole team was dealt a healthy dose of festive spirit, so much so that when jolly jumpers didn’t meet our strict health and safety standards our Service Team gave their work gear some Christmas cheer. Putting people first is at the heart of Horizon’s ethos. That’s why our relationship with Leeds Enterprise Partners has been so valuable. They’ve awarded us a £45,100 LEP grant, helping us to fit out our new build and create 10 new jobs including one new apprenticeship.

When one of our apprentices said an access platform would be a great teaching aid for his course at Askham Bryan College we knew we could help. Here at Horizon we’re committed to nurturing local talent, so a boom lift is on its way. Read more “Horizon’s Platforms Go Back to School”

We’ve said it before but I think it’s important to say it again: Horizon Platforms has never been a company that simply focuses on meeting the minimum legal requirements; we’re all about best practice – about striving for and achieving the very best that we can, particularly when it comes to safety.
This ethos drives everything that we do and is the principal reason that we’ve taken our first step on the road to achieving the FORS standard, and I’m delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded bronze accreditation on our very first attempt!
