Warrington students learn about careers & job opportunities at Horizon Platforms

Someone asked me recently why I decided to pursue a career in HR. The answer is easy: I thrive on finding the very best people for the job, nurturing them and providing opportunities for them to develop rewarding careers.
At Horizon Platforms, the choice of career options and opportunities to learn and develop often surprises people. Yes, we’re in the powered access industry, but that doesn’t mean we only recruit engineers and technicians – there’s a lot more to it than that.
To spread the word about Horizon and the breadth of job opportunities and careers available, a handful of us recently attended a careers fair at the largest learning provider in Warrington, Warrington Collegiate in north Cheshire. The college offers courses to students aged 16 and over and it was a fabulous opportunity for us to tell people what it’s like to work at Horizon Platforms.
We chatted to young people as well as some adult learners about our current job vacancies, the rewards and benefits of working for a company like ours and the broad range of job opportunities available in every area of our business – from sales jobs, HGV drivers and IPAF training roles to engineering apprenticeships and account manager positions.
We even took along some tiny models of our work at height platforms including scissor lifts and cherry pickers to show the students!
Apprenticeships in Warrington
Many of our roles require previous relevant work experience but for others, we’re proud to be able to offer an apprenticeship programme which enables trainees to do on-the-job training and gain the qualifications and experience they need. We currently offer apprenticeships within our Service Engineering team and some of our office-based customer service roles. This is a fantastic opportunity for both us and the apprentice to benefit from a structured development programme, and a great opportunity for us to grow our own talented workforce.
Growing the workforce: more jobs in Warrington and Wakefield
As part of Horizon Platforms’ £5million growth plan and our commitment to growing the workforce and nurturing talent, we plan to create many more job opportunities over the next few years. The new positions will help to ensure all our customers continue to benefit from the excellent levels of service they enjoy. A new team of Relationship Support Managers is already in place and more are being recruited to act as a single point of contact for customers. Our operational team is also being strengthened.
