“It’s hard to believe that 10 years have gone by already. Ten years since that January morning when we opened our doors as Horizon Platforms in Horbury, West Yorkshire, with a fleet of 12 small scissor lifts that would be transported with two Land Rovers and two plant trailers.
This month we’re reflecting on the decade gone by here at Horizon, and for us it’s an opportunity to tell our employees how proud we are of them for their vital part in how far we’ve come, as well as a chance to say a huge thank you to our valued customers for sticking with us over the years.
Since those dozen vehicles, what followed was a recognition of what our customers needed – reliable powered access rental solutions – and we got to work by making sure we could provide it. No doubt there have been blood, sweat and tears in getting Horizon to where it is today. But it’s sure been worth it.
We’re now at home in Wakefield, close to the M1, and near Warrington off the M6, and our clean battery powered MEWPS are rented and used across the UK. We have a 85-strong team of staff and fleet of 950. To say we’re astounded at the rate of our growth is an understatement, and taking some time to look back over the journey we’ve been on during 10 years of Horizon has been a rather emotional one.
